Lena Natero W.

Lena Natero W. is an educator, award-winning game developer & media artist based in Los Angeles. She received a Digital Media BFA from Florida State University in 2015, and a Design Media Arts MFA from UCLA in 2019. She has instructed undergraduate courses in animation, video, and digital imaging at UCLA Design Media Arts, and an interactive narrative course in the Media Studies department at Scripps College.  She co-founded the creative studio Anachronic, creating videos and animations for music industry artists including Mike Shinoda, Weezer, Train, DeathbyRomy, and Sublime.

Lena's work contends with the entrenched structures that prevent individuals from effecting meaningful change. Her research investigates how media and online spaces can function as an escape from oppressive systems. She explores online identity as the fragmentation & commodification of self. Her games have been featured on Rhizome.org, Dazed Digital, and Kotaku, and recognized internationally in game festivals like A MAZE. International Games and Playful Media Festival and Independent Games Festival.
